The Central American leadership program Centroamérica Adelante will coordinate trainings, meetings and pilot projects for leaders working on the key drivers of forced migration in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.
Representatives from the private sector and the government, the philanthropic community, civil society and academia from across the region came together to discuss on the realities Central America faces related to migration, equity, rule of law, creating a culture of legality and philanthropy.
A new report reveals a 36% increase in funding for Latin America by large U.S. foundations between 2006 and 2015. In 2014 and 2015 alone, 306 large U.S. foundations awarded $1 billion for Latin America.
This new initiative will target organizations in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Nicaragua for grantmaking and technical assistance. The CAMY Fund will also support new research on child marriage and early unions in the region by linking local researchers with grantee organizations.
