Every day, the Central America and Mexico Youth Fund (CAMY), a program of the Seattle International Foundation, works for and with youth social movements in Central America and Mexico that promote more just, equitable and inclusive spaces and create a better present.
This month, in recognition of the important role that youth play in driving social change in Central America and Mexico, the Central America and Mexico Youth (CAMY) Fund puts a spotlight on the youth fight for justice, and the ways that philanthropy can work alongside them.

During a critical moment for the youth in Central America and Mexico, Perla Vázquez assumes the direction of SIF’s CAMY Fund.
Xiomara Carballo B., of Costa Rica, is the new program officer for CAMY Fund’s Latin American and Caribbean Initiative to Prevent and Address Early Unions in Adolescents and Girls (LAC Initiative).
This new initiative will target organizations in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Nicaragua for grantmaking and technical assistance. The CAMY Fund will also support new research on child marriage and early unions in the region by linking local researchers with grantee organizations.
CAMY Fund will support young adult leaders in Central America and Mexico to implement innovative projects within their organizations that are designed to demonstrate measurable impacts on girls’ equality and/or adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
