Xiomara Carballo, of Costa Rica, is the new program officer for CAMY Fund’s Latin American and Caribbean Initiative to Prevent and Address Early Unions in Adolescents and Girls (LAC Initiative).

Xiomara will coordinate with various civil society organizations, donors and governments to organize international and regional events and will represent SIF in front of key audiences to promote the objectives of the LAC Initiative and will work with allies in the political advocacy on child marriage, early unions and sexual and reproductive rights.

Xiomara is a Costa Rican, afro-descendant and an activist for women’s rights. She has a degree in law and has a solid background in strategic planning and participatory processes for social development projects. Read her biography here.
