They Change the World: Fourteen Stories of Resistance from Latin American Feminist and Activist Women

March 1, 2021

They Change the World (Ellas cambian el mundo) is a virtual exhibition by the Central America Youth Fund (CAMY Fund), a program of Seattle International Foundation, in partnership with the Spanish Cultural Center in Tegucigalpa (CCET).

The exhibition emerged from the CAMY Fund’s Stories of Resistance project, which in 2021 presented the journeys of 14 Latin American women, feminists, and activists who began their paths of resistance in childhood and adolescence. Through their courage and creativity, they have confronted inequality and helped transform the communities they inhabit.

Each story was paired with an original illustration by a Latin American artist, celebrating the powerful political voice of girls and women as key actors and allies in social movements.

Launched in March 2021, a symbolic month for women worldwide, the virtual gallery remained open to the public throughout the year. In 2022, the exhibition returned to the CAMY Fund to become a permanent digital collection, honoring the resilience, leadership, and vision of a new generation of changemakers across the region.

These stories stand as both testimony and inspiration; a tribute to the girls, adolescents, and young women who have broken new ground and continue to change the world for those following in their footsteps.
