After a successful start, the Central America Donors Forum (CADF) continues this Thursday and Friday with in-depth discussions about the realities and challenges facing Central America.

This Thursday’s sessions begin with discussions about the role of the private sector in rule of law and education as a tool to address migration. There will also be talks about efforts to fight impunity in Honduras and feminist movements as a key driver of change. We will also address progress and migration in the Northern Triangle, LGBTQI and indigenous movements and the role of social enterprises, philanthropy and corporate social responsibility in economic development and mitigating migration.

Millicom, a CADF sponsor, will also host a fireside chat with its president, Mauricio Ramos, about creating opportunities for young people and the growth of the middle class, moderated by the journalist, Glenda Umaña.

On Friday, the agenda includes more panels, conferences and workshops and to close out CADF, the Honduran group Puras Mujeres and the Guatemalan singer and songwriter Sara Curruchich will perform. A total of 120 speakers participate in CADF and more than 40 activities are carried out over three days.

The forum is organized by the Seattle International Foundation (SIF) with the support of its local partners FUNDAHRSE and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Cortes (CCIC), and sponsors like Millicom/Tigo and Ford Foundation.

Among the members of the 2019 CADF host committee are Ricardo Maduro, former President of Honduras, Aline Flores, former President of the National Investment Council, Pedro Barquero, Executive Director of CCIC, Fatima Mena, Governor of San Pedro Sula, and Norma Torres, Congressman from the United States.

CADF is held every year in Central America and is one of the main multisectoral spaces to build partnerships. Proposals are generated throughout the forum addressing how to boost development and create opportunities for more just, peaceful, equitable and prosperous societies.

This is the first time that CADF has been carried out in Honduras. See our agenda for more information on the activities of the forum.
